The F Word

Finishing, that is.

A few days ago I drafted a rant about how even though I had signed up for the February is for Finishing KAL all I was doing was starting projects:

*including spa socks from Knit1 (one of the few reasons to keep that magazine as far as I'm concerned)
*My So called Scarf (as an instant-gratification break from the hoodie)
*crocheting [a whole other craft!]
*and I'm seriously trying to stop myself from casting on for the Razor Cami.

Yesterday, however I found myself blocking Julia's scarf

and giving it

I also finished my My So Called Scarf

Detail

I'm almost finished the first sleeve for my sweater

(just have to fix a couple of cables)

and at long last I finished my resume!

Something New

I'm taking a couple weeks off work (both for a break and to re-evaluate my life...namely my working life) and I decided to buy myself a gift to mark the occasion:

I've had my eye on this book for awhile and the hooks? well, I figured they were good sizes to learn with (5 - 6mm) and they're bright & fun!

My first wobbly attempt:

I cast on (chained?) 14 stitches, but had anywhere from 12 to 16 stiches on the hook at any one time. I started with single, half-double & double crochet stitches. I (obviously) have to work on my tension, and figuring out where to stick that tricky hook! I also have to work on how I hold the yarn , etc. while crocheting. It really doesn't feel natural to me to have that finger sticking up. I'm sure it will take some time but I'll also try out some different stances.

This is much better, much more even, although probably too tight. At least it looks good!

More knitting content next time!

I've been Tagged!

Miss Twiss has tagged me to write six weird things about myself. Then I have to tag others...that will probably be the hard part!

>I sit on an exercise ball while working on my computer at home. I don't do it for any fitness reason; it's just the only thing I have that sits at the height of the wicker stand my laptop lives on.

>I have a divot/dimple/slit at the end of my nose. It comes from my mom's side of the family; my grandpa, mom & I all have it. It was apparently the first thing they looked for after they ascertained that I had all my fingers and toes.

>Sunday mornings I love listening to "Sentimental Journey", a radio show that features music from the 30s, 40s & 50s. It's an especially good day if I hear a song from Bing Crosby.

>I do my tax calculations every year by hand, on paper. I will only check it with a calculator just before sending it off. It's the only chance I have to do long division any more.

>I hate tomato juice & tomato soup...can't even stand the smell, but I love eating tomatoes whether fresh or cooked. Although with fresh tomatoes they do have to be home grown...I don't like store-bought tomatoes!

>I love grocery shopping, especially in the produce section. I have to be really careful that I don't buy too much. As it stands now I have probably rotted more veggies than I have eaten.

[EDIT] Since everyone seems to have done this already let's say if you read this, and haven't yet done it, and care to do these things, then you're tagged. Let me know though, eh?
